Tiger and the fox

Deep in the forest, there once lived a fox, which had lost the use of its front legs, possibly while escaping from a trap.

A man, who lived on the edge of the forest saw the fox from time to time, often wondered and was curious, as to how in the world the fox managed to get its food. To satisfy his curiosity, one day he hid himself, close enough to watch the fox. From his hideout, he saw a tiger was approaching with a fresh game in its claws. Placing the game down on the ground, the tiger ate its fill, leaving the rest for the fox.

The same thing happened the next day and the next. It dawned then on the man, that the great Provider of this world had sent food to the fox through the tiger.

The man thought and said to himself, “If this fox is taken care of in this mysterious manner, its food sent by some unseen Higher Power, why don’t I just rest in a corner and have my daily meal provided for me as well? “ He decided to try out and see if the great Power would provide him too, with a daily meal.

With firm faith, he waited for his food to be sent by the great Provider; but days passed by and nothing happened. With the passage of time, the man lost weight and strength due to starvation; and was reduced to a skeleton, but he was determined to carry on.

One day he was on the verge of fainting, when he heard a Voice which said, O Son! You have been mistaken, behold the Truth now! You should have followed the example of the tiger instead of imitating the disabled fox.

Responsibility gives us power and Irresponsibility makes us weak.  God helps those who help themselves. There is no reward without hard work.
